How to Use Your Own API Keys More Safely with AIWritingPlus
AIWritingPlus uses a Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) model. You pay AIWritingPlus for access to the platform, then connect supported AI providers with API credentials from your own provider accounts. AIWritingPlus does not sell API tokens or bundle provider usage into your platform plan.
Platform access and API usage are separate
Your AIWritingPlus subscription covers the workspace and its available features. Charges for model requests, images, audio, storage, or other provider services are determined and billed by the provider. Prices, limits, and availability can change, so check the provider's current dashboard and documentation before using a feature.
What an API key allows
An API key is a secret credential that can authorize billable requests to your provider account. AIWritingPlus needs access to a configured key when it sends the requests you initiate. Treat every API key like a password: never publish it, paste it into public support messages, or reuse a key that has been exposed.
Recommended setup
- Create a dedicated key. Use a separate key or provider project for AIWritingPlus rather than reusing a key shared with other applications.
- Use the minimum access available. If your provider supports project permissions or restricted keys, enable only the services you need.
- Set provider limits. Configure budget alerts, spending caps, or rate limits in the provider account when those controls are available.
- Monitor usage. Review the provider's usage and billing dashboard regularly. Unexpected traffic can be a sign that a key should be rotated.
- Rotate and revoke. Replace keys periodically and revoke a key immediately if you suspect exposure. Revocation is performed in the provider account.
Data and provider policies
Prompts and generated outputs must be sent to the provider selected for the request. Each provider has its own retention, privacy, regional, and model-training terms. Review the current terms for the provider and model you choose before submitting confidential, regulated, or personal information.
What AIWritingPlus does not promise
No online service can honestly promise zero risk, “unbreakable” protection, unlimited provider usage, or fixed savings for every customer. Security also depends on your provider settings, account access, device security, and how you handle credentials.

- Revoke the key in the provider dashboard.
- Create a new dedicated key with appropriate restrictions.
- Review recent provider usage and billing.
- Update the key in AIWritingPlus and contact support if you notice unexpected platform activity.
